So.......i have been at everest base camp since the 20th of april...after my last post from Gorekshep.... i was down with a headache that afternoon.....so i decided to stay put there....coz coming up with a headache was just not an option...my headache had disappeared by evening and i felt completely alright but i needed some more acclimatisation so i stayed at Gorekshep ....i gulped down loads of water n soup n juice n tea....on Apa Sherpa’s strong recommendation....he had joined me later that afternoon...i decided to stay on in gorekshep on the 19th as well...coz it’s difficult to gather energy at an higher altitude...Apa Sherpa left for base camp on the 19th morning after some good advice...and reminded me that i had to reach base camp before 8am on the 20th as we had our pooja then....so on the 20th at about 6:15am i left from gorekshep....it was a cold cold morning and the wind had decided to make it difficult....the wind was too cold...it was so cold that i couldn’t leave my mouth open even for a second.....the air would just gush in.....it was flowing from the mountains into the valley.....and dint stop till i reached base camp....the pooja was just about to begin when i reached....it was an exciting pooja to watch....all our ice axes, climbing boots, crampons ,etc....were assembled on one side of the stupa.....all types of food and beverages were assembled in the front... the main item in the beverage being BEER......and loads of it....the ‘prasad’ was beer....as also ‘chang’ wine made out of rice.....i dint have the guts to try either...not even coke...coz its carbonated and it was not gona help me acclimatise....so i din’t try any.....just to say cheers i got a bottle of coke which is still lying in my tent....anyways it was an exciting ritual....we then had some dance goin...everyone in a semi-circle around the stupa....and just some movement of the legs.... all togetherrythamatic...and some sounds like....chiso-chiso-chiso.... with the sherpas singing away.....something....it was loads of fun....must have gone on for about an hour maybe....

After that i unpacked set my tent up....trying to be as organised as is possible by my standards...and i think im doing extremely well...hehehehe......and while i was organising ....one Gaurav Sharma came to see me......he had apparently been waiting for me....and had gone to gorekshep looking for me....he knew more about me than i myself knew...it was funny....he is from rajasthan also climbing everest....alone...without a team.....we discussed some climbing and planning....

Then some lunch with our team....our dinning tent is beautiful....its got all the food that you would possibly crave for...and hygiene is the most important thing.....well we have all decided to not write in our blogs how ‘nice’ our tent really is....hehehe

The next day 21st after breakfast we (Partimba Sherpa,Apa Sherpa,Henry,Aura, n me) went up for a little trek.....for about 3 hours.....we went and saw the route up to camp 3....saw everest n the lothse face....the wind was working on these faces....it was looking B E A U T I F U L....
It was a good trek with some stories from the two great sherpas that were with us...

And while we were going there and getting some nice pictures....Nick...went out and got 34 kilos of trash...we are the eco everest expedition....and we get 100 nepali rupees per kilo.....and once Nick had done that....the young sherpas ran around getting all the trash they could possibly find.....and by the end of the day we had collected about 500 kilos of trash.....there were two helicopters crashed near the campsite....one in 1973 and one more recent one....so the trash poured in....and our leader was busy the whole day distributing cash....coz its .....CASH FOR TRASH....

And then over lunch we had kilos of jokes cracking up about the ‘cash for trash’....it was hilarious...and i laughed ...and it felt sooo goooood....
We have been discussing the route and how we should be moving up...i have been in base camp 2 nights now....i need atleast 3 more before i move up....i have been learning a lot from my team mates....today morning some of my team members moved up....and according to the sherpas this year’s route is shorter and safer then before ....the KHUMBU ICE FALL!!! People....here it comes....a little excited...and a little worried....but good to go so far.....

The base camp is like a village....we are about 20 expeditions here so far (more than a thousand people) and about 11 more expeditions to come up....its definitely spread more than 1 kilometre in radius....we have a bakery here...the asian-trekking bakery....and u get apple pie...and chocolate croissants...and cake....and cinnamon rolls....the works.....but its all for a good cause....cause the more people indulge...that much more trash will come down......so what the hell go ahead and indulge!!

You’ll could probably see some pics etc on ...www.asian-trekking.com n the blog that our leader writes is also there....so u guys can check that out as well....

ok now the thing is that i'm part of the eco everest expedition with asian trekking ....we are a team of 6 americans 2 german one nepali and me the only indian and only girl...the eldest member in my team being 67yrs....i finally met them on the 15th....after a rest day on the 14th at namche...i directly hit dingboche 4410mtrs.....it took me 7 and a half hours....it was quite a tiring trek... that day i had my lunch cum dinner at 5 and was off to bed by 6....that day most of the time i trekked alone ....gelu would find a friend and wait to talk to them.....and that day the feeling of being by my self hit me....and i missed u dipti and saritha...and wondered wether i had made a mistake...and then i missed the laughter that would have gone with us....but i continued walkin...infact i increased my speed....its all happening so fast that even i cant keep track of it......the next morning i left dingboche at 8:45am i.e on the 16th....for lobuche...where my team was resting for the day....this trek was quite a simple trek but i think the tieredness of the earlier trek was way too much....so i walked slowly and steadily...we then crossed the everest memorial.....it was a quite journey...when i reached our lodge my team was just finishing their lunch....i met them just for a bit...had my lunch....and sat and spoke to martin a climber from ireland.......and then fom a malayasin gujju told me that the NIM tem was just in the next lodge....and i knew that i had to go say hi....he showed me a vedio of theirs playing cards at the earlier camp and i dont know why the little tears just rolled down.....how i had promised myself to not cry...and i had been good at not letting them comeby....so with martin i went to their lodge to say hi...and i did ...and it was quite nice.....they knew i was coming but i still think they were a little shocked.....we chatted for a while.....i sat down with dashrat sir and deenesh saab and it was like it always was.....i met with meena di who was fast asleep and we went for a littile walk by ourselves....i thought i would be quite mind spoilt after meeting them ...but i was not that bad...i slept weel that nite....i took a rest day yesterday...the 17th......my team went up....but will the 67yr old and bud another memberfrom my team were gona rest as well as bud wasnt feeling all that fine....and i needed to acclamatise....i was now at 4950mtrs....i did some yoga in my room and then chatted away with my team mates the whole afternoon....for both of them it was their last of the 7 highest peaks in the 7 continents...and this was the last for them...oh and before my team left to go to base camp we had breakfast together and they were all there....it was fun.....and i felt like a part of the team inally...there were okes and laughter and chatter.....the breakfast got quite extended...it was very haevy so we joked that anyways as the base camp is moving towards us if we wait long enough it willl come to us....hehehe....

so today i have moved from lobuche to gorek shep which is 5180mtrs...oh and on the 22nd i think there is going to be a cricket match up here....i might move up to base camp today or stay put here for some more acclamatisation....i have been good though no head aches and no body acehes touch wooooooood...........

excuse all the spelling mistakes its freezing here and my hans have gone numb......

oh and by the way......even if i am in a team....everyone decieds for them selves when they want to move...when they want to summit.....when they want to rest....its totally individual planning....the company only takes care of all the logistics......so i have to decied with my climbing sherpa wen we should move etc....the weather reports will be given....nd advice will be given but the decision is mine......
so pray my stupid brain takes in lot of oxygen and can think strieght!!

Phakding 2620mtrs to Namche 3440mtrs.

So on the 12th nite after a small acclimatization walk,I decided to have an early dinner so i could move early in the morning....so I told gelu-my personal sherpa and guide....oh he is quite the sweetheart and we are both trying to teach each other hindi and nepali respectivly- that we would have our breakfast by 7am and move by 7:30am (just like in NIM...aaaa).....so back in my room...more like a shack though i set my alarm for 6:30am and off i was in my dream world...
which i have to mention is the most enteraining thing in the world...its like the most helerious snippets i can imagine....and i can't beleive my onw brain can manufracture them!!

I had been awake by 5:30am but my mind was refusing to let me leave the warm bed...so cozily wrapped up in the dark blue sheets....i was awakened with a loud knok at6:45am....i had decided on breakfast at 7 so i was quite shocked....there he was with his usual smile wondering about something...and i told him that i would be there by 7am.....well and he said that its aldredy 7:15am....and i was like .....vaaaaaaat!!

Well its the nepal time....and i was still at IST....so my plan got pushed by 30mins ahead....alas....stupid stupid me...

Anyways we were on our way by 8am....it was a 4hr to 5hr trek to Namche depending on your speed...and i was quite charged...by 10:30am we had reached the last point where we could probably get lunch and gelu was hungry so we decided to wait for lunch....i was in no mood to eat just wanted to get the trek over and reach namche....had heard so much about it was looking to do some shopping there....and theres something about eating that i dont enjoy in the mountains....and where i eat with my hands....truelly indian style...gelu will pick up the knife and the fork and get on with his lunch....its quite cool to see it happening.....
well the food normally takes long to arrive....and after eating just a bowl of dal bhaat...i was so full and in no mood to pick up the rucksack and walk....so sat and wrote for 30mins till my food had setteled down....and started of again by 11:45am.....and just as we started i asked gelu how long it wold take and he said 3 to 3 n 1\2 hrs....and i was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaat!.....cause in my head i had made the calculations...we had aldredy walked for 2 n a 1\2 hrs...and only two hours was left....and i made up my mind...i wanted to do some shopping...and go on the net and look around namche if i was going to reach by 3:30 all that was goin to be immpossible.....so i changed my gear....and every time there was a steep uphill i waould take a deep breath from my nose let it out from my nose like C.Norbu sir has taught and would go up non-stop till that flight of steps was done....and by 1:30 i could see namche....and by 2pm i was at my lodge....and i went yiiipeeeee in my head!!

Namche is big but small compared to how big i thought it would be....its got shops all over and every little house is a guest house and every little varanda is a shop.....till now i had been feeling super hot.....but now here it was getting chillly....we dumped our stuff at the room and rushed to the market....well the first thing i had to get was a camera.....cause well my camera was in kathmandu geting repaired cause during the search and rescue course i had clicked pictures of the helicopter rescue and the dust particles had screwed up the lense....so all u future search and rescue course enthusiastes pleas dont clik the helicopter.....coz thats wat happenes in the begining of the course and then u have no camera for the rest of the course....(frustrating frustrating)....anyways so i headd staight for the shop and got a camera...coz my camera reaches me only on the 20th of april and by then i will aldredy be at base camp...and miss all the goood greenery on the way......

had no money for any other shopping after the camera so i dint even feel like window shopping so i went clicking pictures around...went and visited gelu's friends had tea and momos....and then back to the restaurant....

have been noticing that the no. 9 has been following me....the total of the bill of my equipment had 3 three's in it.....my climbing permit i am the 9th person....my room no. at phakding was 9....and now at namche is 108=9,my seat no. in the flight from kathmandu to lukla was 9A.....some numerologist please try and read between the lines...

acclamaisation rest here today....will head for tengbuche tommorrow which is at 3860mtrs.....and dengbuche dayafter which is 4410mtrs....

now at namche and moving ahead

so its been "oh such a roller coaster ride" from NIM to here..here meaning to say namche bazaar.I landed in kathmandu on the 9th of march...it was just a 90 min flight...kathmandu feels the same like india....though the cars here reallly rock....i made a tiny dream in my mind to come here and buy a car...maybe like a second hand....its all the SUVs i have dreamt off...the land rovers, the cruisers...and moodels we havnt even seen in india...
anyways...the first thing i had to do was the shopping...cause even if i had come to nepal to climb mount everest i dint have even the smallest of the equipment...nothing at all...not a carabiner...nor a sleeping bag...
so after dumping our stuff at the hotel me and mom rushed to the bank first...and the clearing of the money took exactly 5 hrs 34mins and 44 secs...and trust me that is a long time....so we actually ended up at the shop by 3...and after that its all hazzy...cause the thought of having MY OWN EQUIPMENT was making me a little dizzy...and to add to that the sparkling equipment was blinding me.....
well today i was planning to only decide on all the equipment see which item fits into my budget and the following day i picked up all of it
that was the most exciting part...so on the 10th when i came back to the hotel with all my equipment i nicely packed it up in the duffle bags keeping each one with a lot of care...reading the instructions and obbssesing with them....my mom was fedup of seeing all of it....
so basically i had the 11th to shop for toiletries....though we had finished all our nepali rupees....so we had to wait untill 2 to get it coz sturday is off in nepal...

now i had this brilliant idea...that if i braid my hair....i wouldnt have to worry\manage\take care etc etc of my hair.... cutting was not an option as certain people would have been unhappy....and i dint wana give them anymore reason to be a little off....anyways so after goin and picking up some last equipment by 3:45 i went to a parlour and sat there till 6:15 braiding my hair......quite happy with myself...i left for some shopping of items like woolen socks,gloves,caps...and sandles and batteries ...t-shirts etc etc....

most of the shops were shut or in the process of shutting....so with a big fat bag on my back and mom totally freaking out i was running from one shop to another....iit was helerious i though if someone was looking at the scene as an outsider....anyway...after running for a while...i realised that i had seen a 24hr shop....which i found and could do some quite shopping....by this time i was developing a terrible headache...and for sometime i thought it was the acclamatization that had gone wrong....we managed to reach the hotel with loads of bags....which we were counting at every transsition in the fear of losing one....
back in our room i still had to do my personal packing...and so all these bags were emptied and packed again....etc etc....by 12 my head had given up...but thankfully the packing was done....we then had our food.....and my headache had developed a ringing in my head....it was the braiding that had got me the headache...and i had thought that if i keep it eor a while longer i will get used to it and the ache would stop....but it wasnt....and so from 12:30 to about 1:30 me and mom sat removing all the braids....it was sucha painful process....well something always has to go wrong and so it did....

my flight from kathmandu to lukla was at 6:30am on the 12th of march....i landed at lukla at 7 and astarted my trek at 7:55 to phakding after having some coffee at a cafe where i was given an orange blessing thread by the owner....she was very sweet.....we reached phakding by 9:50..it was an easy trek...it was down hill...and preety....just like the indian himalayas.....

it was time for one more funny folly....i have the most amazinglly burnt face as i did my search and rescue course at NIM and had decided to not use any sunscreen to just know what exactly happens if u dont use it....and well i can say i learnt....so before starting this trek i generouslly apllied sunscreen making it a thick layer....only to be getting funny expressions through out the trek as we happened to be walking on that side of the mountain that the rays dint touch till we reached phakding.....though it was a bright sunny hot day...
